# Studios & switching

> How studios scope your work, and how to switch between them.

A **studio** is the tenant for everything you do in Qwacks. Your games, team, plan, usage, and
invoices all belong to a studio — not to your personal account. Your account is just the identity
that can be a member of one or more studios.

## The active studio

You always have one **active** studio, and it scopes the whole platform: every app you open and
every page you load works against that studio's data. The choice is remembered across apps, so
moving from the Qwacks hub into Flock or Data Duck keeps you in the same studio without picking it
again.

Because membership is per-studio, your **role can differ between studios** — admin in your own,
maybe viewer in one you were invited to. Switching studios switches the permissions you're acting
with.

## Switching

Open the **settings menu** at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose a studio from the switcher
at the top. [Studio Management](/qwacks/studio-settings) has the same switcher under **Active
Studio** if you'd rather change it there. The switch is immediate — no reload — and whatever
studio-scoped page you're on refreshes to the studio you picked.

<Note>
  Belong to just one studio? There's nothing to switch — it's active everywhere by default.
</Note>

## Belonging to more than one

You can be a member of several studios at once: your own, plus any you've been invited to. Create
more from [Studio Management](/qwacks/studio-settings), and manage who belongs to each from
[Team & roles](/qwacks/team).
